These five core principles guide our approach.

Define the problem

Why?

That’s a question you’ll get a lot from us. We find that our best work happens when our clients are willing to engage in a discussion on their core business needs. Only by understanding the underlying (sometimes unspoken) business goals can we build a truly successful solution.

Involve the user

Don’t just listen: observe, question, understand, and analyze.

Our approach to observational research goes beyond surveys and focus groups to expose new business opportunities in the gap between what people say about their needs and what they actually do in the real world. It helps us identify needs your customers might not even know they have.

Prototype the solution

Make something. Try it out. Refine it. Rinse. Repeat.

We create visualizations of possible solutions as early as possible and evaluate them with users to see how they work. Then we refine them and do it again. It’s called participatory design. It’s the secret sauce that enables us to design products that fit into your customer’s lives.

Deliver the goods

Make it so.

Once we have documented and agreed on the requirements from the business and the users, we take those ideas as far as you require–to detailed user experience specifications or operational systems. We’re happy to partner with your internal development resources, or bring in our technology partners to meet your development needs.
